The refillable cartridge is available for the HP DesignJet Z6100. A decoder must be added to let the printer see the ink level as always full.
A decoder is an add-on electronic system to provide the printer a cartridge chip level read as always full. The printer will bypass the chip level read and read the data provided by the Decoder. The purpose of the decoder is to eliminate the chip level reset. The cartridge will no longer have to be removed fro a chip reset. Some refillable cartridges will allow ink refill without having to remove the cartridge from the printer. A see-through type refillable cartridge will show the actual ink level. Since the Decoder is showing the ink level as always full, it is important to pay special attention to the actual ink level in the cartridges.
The main advantage of having a decoder in the printer is that you will no longer have to deal with a low ink chip reset while a print is only half way done. A large sheet of expensive paper wasted is common since there are 11 cartridges in the printer. It is most likely that the 11 chip reset take place not at the same time and could lead to 11 sheets of expensive paper wasted. The Decoder will prevent ink level reset because the ink level is always full. Less paper waste, less ink waste from auto head clean after a chip reset if a resetter is used to reset the chip.
