Testimonials

I have successfully outfitted my R2880 with ..ink from efillink.com.  The experience has been very positive.......

I have photographs hanging on the wall that no one can tell the difference between the ones printed with OEM and efillink, especially when behind glass.

I did profile my favorite papers with a Spyder3Print, and along with profiled monitor, the colors are exceptional. I show less out of gamut colors with efillink inks plus my profiles than canned Epson OEM profiles on the same paper with CS3.

I was nervous and hesitant at first, but after no longer seeing the dollars signs go by with every pass of the printhead, I am having more fun printing. Had a party at the house, and not only did I take pictures, but everyone went home with a 13x19. I never would have dared doing that with OEM $$$$.

I have calculated my printing costs (for ink only)
4 by 6 - was $0.22 now $0.03
8 by 10 was $0.90 now $0.11
13 x 19 - was $2.77 now $0.34

Now with effilink plus Costco Kirkland 4x6 paper - per 4x6 print including paper is $0.07 - beating low cost Internet printers.

No clogs, I print three times a week or so.

--I am in no way associated with efillink, just a happy customer who came across this thread.

--I have to agree with you about Ron Luk and efillink. Not only you can't beat service like that it is almost impossible find it at all.

I had a clogging problem with a 2200 and talked to Ron about trying to repair it.

It took awhile but Ron really helped me out. The old workhorse is just like new now.

I bought a R2880 and because of the level of service from Efillink, i ordered on refillable cart kit from him, and I could not be happier. I ink is very good and closely matches up with epson's profiles. It was even better after doing my own custom paper/ink profiles.

whether you go with a CIS or refillable cart kit from efillink you won't be disappointed.

I have 2 other kits on order with ron for other printers now after seeing the quality of his products.

He has EARNED my business.

R1900

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=35191779

I am a professional photographer who delivers high-quality custom prints to my customers. After spending my first $200 on Epson inks for my R1900 I quickly realized that I did not invest years of education, thousands of dollars and hours of my life into every gig so that someone at Epson can make a sweet living off of me (yes, I'm a jew from New York). That's when I decided there has to be a better way ... and there was.

After several weeks of research and careful consideration I went out on a limb and ordered a set of 4oz inks and cartridges from Ronnie. I was concerned with all the same issues anyone else would be (print quality, heads longevity, warranty, leakage, bandage .....) but after talking to Ronnie I was more than confident that he's been through all of it and would make my experience pleasant and productive.

A week later when the Inks arrived I put them in and the problems started ... first I had issues with bandage... he advices I give the cartridges some time for air to pass through and dissipate on its own - I tried printing in 24 hours and the problems went away on its own as he predicted.... I borrowed a printer calibrator from a friend and created new Epson profiles - that solved it and prints looked identical to the Epson inks.

Several month ago I called Ronnie again to tell him that I would like to share the custom profiles I created .. so that he can in turn share it with his other customers.  He was thankful and I felt like doing the right thing because he truly saved me hundreds of dollars (much better than Geico would). What goes around comes around.

Now, almost half a year later I am calling Ronnie again. I'm reaching out to him to order another set of inks because I can't imagine a better solution for anyone who expects high quality prints but does not want support Epsons monopoly.

John Charles Samphier , Aug 25, 2008; 08:31 p.m.  - R2400 CIS

Hi, everyone. Since I last wrote in, I have bought the CIS delivery system which is manufactured and supplied by a firm at www.efillink.com. as suggested in the forum by Steven, back in January 2008. Everything Steven said about the system and the inks have been correct. The CIS system itself is fantastic and gives a warning when any of the cartridges is getting a little low on ink. The inks supplied with the system have been at least the equivalent of the Epson pigment inks as supplied for the R2400 printer, but because they are supplied in many different size containers, you can take your choice and save a bundle at the same time. I chose the 8 ounce size, as it gives enough ink to be the equivalent of about 15 or 20 refills with the Epson cartridges, but at a fraction of the cost.  Ronnie ..will speak to you via Skype phone at no charge, and talk you through any difficulties. For anyone interested in getting excellent results in their colour printing and saving heaps of money at the same time, I can highly recommend this product. Regards, John Samphier.

I've been using a CIS system with my Epson R800 from efillink for a few months now. The system works faultlessly. I was a little concerned about moving from original cartridges to a CIS system but have to say that the photo quality prints are excellent. The finish is a little more matt compared to the originals which I prefer.

Hi, I was looking at buying the R2400 with the Lyson ink setup which work out to about £460 gbps with just 4oz of ink, the cis system is the best on the market its has a vacuum ballance system, then I saw the same cis system called, efillink. Anyway I sent for the R2400 cis with pigment ink setup, I have been using it for 8 weeks now and the results are exellent, colours, B/W, setting up and profiling was no problem, I'm getting as good if not better results as I was with epsons inks, and over Lysons prices I saved £140 gbps plus I got twice as much ink....phil

I have been using a CIS system from http://www.efillink.com/ for the past 4 years with great results and super service as well. It has saved me many hundreds of $$$ and the peace of mind that if a print is just not quite right . . . do it over . . . no big deal! It took a little fiddling to get the color just where I wanted it, but after that I am really pleased with the qaulity. Have prints on the wall for 4 years now and they look like the day I printed them.
Check it out. The owner's name is Ronnie Luk, always a great help and easy to talk with.

I recently purchased the CIS system from efillink. I have been very pleased with the ink and the system thus far. I had a challenge with the rollers on my printer (Epson 2200). After talking to Paul and Ron, I fixed the problem and am now Extreeeemly happy with the printer and the ink. If you would like a picture of the setup on my printer that corrects the roller marks, just email me at (simplymeltd@gmail.com) I also found that if you go into the printer Color set up and change the setting to -10 magenta and +3 yellow it will correct the magenta cast on the pictures.

Ron, with efillink, suggested that I try Red River Paper. I went on line and found that the paper was less expensive than I was able to purchase it locally. This was true even with the shipping. The ink and the paper are a great combo for making great prints.

I have also been impressed with Ron's willingness to help me every step of the way. I have never had the help from any of the other companies I have done business with.

Thanks Ron!!!!!

I have the efillink system and have been extremely happy with it. Normally my printer and the CIS stay on all the time and I haven't run into any issues. The only time I had a problem was when I didn't use the printer for about 4 months and the ink dried out inside the ribbon cable. One call to Ron at the company and I got everything necessary to start working again. Service is always my deciding factor and you do get it from efillink folks. As for ink, it has to be good. I have some prints hanging in my studio in direct light for almost a year now and I haven't seen any fading yet. Not sure about the other company but I can fully vouch for what I have.

Paul Spatafora... Posted on Dpreview... - 2200 CIS
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=23312475

I recently purchased the Efillink CIS after looking at several other units. I looked at the Ink Republic, Ink Jet Fly, MIS and Media Street units. I was really leaning on the Ink Republic unit because of its reputation. I really didn't like the any of these units because of the way they sit besides the printer and the layout of the bottles. Kinda bush league looking. By accident, I ran into the Efillink unit. It “looked” complete. The ink is located in a self contained unit with a monitoring and pumping station. From a technical point of view, it “looked” well thought out and polished. The bonus was that it uses the Image Specialist inks as well and this ink seems to have a good track record for permanence. After discussing the use of the unit with Efillink, I finally purchased it.

Installation

The unit was surprisingly easy to put together. My greatest fear was mess everywhere and the spongeless carts leaking. If you watch the video on the website, the preliminary installation of the ink ribbon and carts in the printer were quite straight forward. The next step was to feed the ink into each reservoir. The directions were not clear enough as to how much you can insert in it so I was conservative and only put in a small amount. I realized later that I could have put in the entire 4oz. in the ink reservoirs all at once. This is important because I pumped in ink 3 times and doing this might have the potential to make a mistake. Using the syringe to vacuum the ink through the ribbon was very good without any mess. I had to make sure that the pop it valve was reseated after the bleeding of the ink into the carts.

The only complaint I had with this procedure was that the information for the installation was not in one convenient location. I expressed my concern about this to Efillink. To there credit we were able to correspond in real time to resolve any issue. So now I completed the installation and to my surprise, I did not have any leaking or major surprises. The bloody thing was working.

First Print

The package did not come with instructions and the video only covered the mechanical installation but not what to do after this step was completed. I emailed Efillink and they sent me an additional set of instructions. I did a few cleanings and did a couple of purges to get the bubbles out. The first print I did looked good. I tried several others and then I was getting some blobbing and smearing to the point I had to stop. Panic! I emailed them again, and was instructed to setup the unit by ensuring the plugs were sealing for the ink and to put the ink station on its pedestal. The pedestal is important because it sets the ink at the correct height in relationship to the cartridges. Something to do about siphon pressures and other gobble de-gook. It was explained that the unit needed to have the pressures equalized and that I should just leave the unit over night.

The next morning, I fired up the printer and made a print. I did this to see if the heads were clogged. The print came out perfectly. No smearing, or bleeding. Just a nice print. Man was I happy. Went out and shot a wedding that day and when I came home, I printed another image just to make sure that it wasn't a fluke and sure enough another perfect print. I use IJA Micro Ceramic Luster.

If you are doing production work, the printer MUST be profiled. I'm getting a slight magenta cast compared to the Epson ink I used before. It's enough to see for my liking and needs correcting. The other thing that improved the printing was doing a head alignment. I found that this also helped allot. I have however figured out how to get a decent color corrected photo by manually adjusting the printer settings. To get rid of the magenta cast, I did the following: C+10, Y+3. This is a good work around until I get my paper profiled.
Technical Support

The one thing that I found with the Efillink CIS was the superb technical support I got. Ronnie was there to help at every step. I choose to install the unit myself without any helps but when I ran into an issue he called me and we discussed the matter right away. I'm sure he's not going to be able to do that for everyone, but the support was there.

Caveats

There are several things that could have been done to make the process better. The first is to have complete instructions located in one convenient location. The other is that the fill station uses batteries instead of a dedicated power supply. When I mentioned this to Efillink, they told me that due to specific country regulations, batteries were the only choice. I can understand this. I found a 4.5 volt transformer that I will be adapting to the unit to get rid of the batteries. Several things that you also have to look for is not to fill the tanks to the top. Apparently this is the cause of the blobbing I mentioned before. The other issue that I would have like to see is some generic profiles or settings for popular papers such as the Epsons or IJA. But when I went to the other Image specialist ink providers, no one had any profiles either.

I wrote this because I found very few reviews of the CIS's other than complaints, whining or praise. There seems to be a lot of interest in products such as this, but little to go on except great product, or bad product. So far, the Efillink CIS has exceeded my expectations in the following areas:

No Clogging
No leaking
No jamming

I was surprised at the color shift but I was reminded that this is NOT Epson ink and that adjustments need to be made. Also, comparing the ink cost between the sellers, Efllink is also more economical.

I have no affiliation with this company except being a happy customer.

I hope people find this a balance report of the product and I hope this helps anyone considering buying a CIS in the future. http://www.efillink.com/

I just want to spread the word. Like Brian, this is my first post as well, and I am not affiliated with efillink, only a customer. At the end of his post, Brian mentioned the new cartridges which efillink is offering due to multiple problems with the previous batch, and this is what I want to comment on.

I have used efillinks for almost two years. The inks have always been extremely good— no problems with clogging or banding. After profiling them with Monaco EZcolor (a nice little prosumer app), the color is rock-solid and virtually indistinguishable from the OEM Epson inks.

I do not use the CIS, but rather the refillable cartridges with an Epson R2400. The first set of cartridges I got (Dec. '07) were very difficult to use. They required a lot of maintenance after a refill— many purge-pattern prints and wasted ink. It got to be quite a headache, and I was about to give up on the whole affair and cut my losses.

But I decided to give it one last chance, and I purchased a set of the new-improved refillable cartridges— I'm glad I did! The new cartridges don't require maintenance and are incredibly easy to use. They re-set themselves after the ink goes down to around 20% left. Then you just refill the cartridge, do a nozzle check (and clean cycle if necessary), and your good to go.

I am not kidding. They print great, look great, are good for the environment, and save you a ton of money— what's not to like? And the support you get from Ron Luk is simply unbelievable— patient, knowledgeable, and very available.

If you are tired of paying top dollar for the wasteful Epson cartridges, you really should give these a try.

When the software ink monitor shows the ink level of a cartridge at empty, there is still a small amount of ink left in the cartridge.  This is done to prevent the print head running dry before the software indicator goes empty.  The printer will stop printing to protect the print head.  However, a small amount of ink is thrown away with each emty cartridge.

Our cartridges are re-usable, so you are able to use all the ink you put in the cartridges.
