R1900 Decoder

R1900 Decoder

Epson Decoder

A decoder is an add-on electronic board to reset the ink level to full at anytime by the press of the ink button.  The R1900 ARC chip reset can only be done when the ink level warning is present.  In addition, the ink levels in the cartridges go down at different rate.  Right after the auto head clean pumps out ink from all the cartridges after a chip reset, another low ink warning show up and a chip reset is required.  Each time a chip reset is performed, the auto head clean pumps out ink from all the cartridges.  You could end up having more ink in the waste ink pad than you have on prints.

The decoder will let you reset all the chips to full at the same time without removing the cartridges from the printer.  You will not have to deal with air getting into the nozzles for a chip reset.

The use of a decoder will eliminate having to remove the cartridges for a chip reset.  Most refillable cartridges will allow ink refill without having to remove the cartridge from the printer.  Without the use of a decoder, the chip level reset for many of the new models, including the R1900, requires the removal of the cartridge for a reset.  There are 8 cartridges in the R1900 and each time a chip is set to full, the printer will perform a head clean.  That is 8 head clean for 8 cartridges, since the ink levels of the cartridges do not all go down at the same rate.  Our decoder will reset all 8 chips at the same time and eliminate the need to remove the cartridges.  This will eliminate 7 head clean.

We are also working on a decoder that will not perform auto head cleaning.  Less paper waste, less ink waste from auto head clean more time to print and be productive.

CSIC Board - This is the board behind the chip contacts in the Carriage Unit that holds the cartridges.  This board is responsible for communication between the cartridge chips and the printer.

CSIS Board 1

The decoder is connected to the CSIS Board.  The CSIS board will be connected to the main board so the printer will get the cartridge ink level read from the decoder to show the ink level is always full.

The purpose for the decoder is to prevent the resetting of the chip when a CIS is used.  Whilst the CIS keeps the cartridges filled with ink, the decoder keeps the chip ink level full.  There will no longer be media wasted because the chip goes empty in the middle of a print.
