Epson Decoder
Decoder for Epson Printer
A decoder is an add-on electronic system to reset the cartridge chip level to full without the need to remove the cartridge from the printer. The ink level on the entire set of chips will reset to full at the same time. This chip reset does not require the removal of the cartridge from the printer. If the cartridges are kept full with the use of a CIS, the decoder will keep the chip ink level full by only a press of the ink button to bring all the chips back to full at the same time. This will reduce ink waste from head clean when air is introduced each time the cartridges are removed for a reset.
With the use of the 3rd party reset chips or sl called "ARC", one problem exist is that the ink level in the cartridges do not all go down at the same rate. The rate at which ink is consumed is based on the color used on the prints. The cartridges on the latest model printer must be removed from the printer for a chip reset. Most chip resetter will not reset the chip when the low ink LED is not on. If you are using the ARC chips, you should know by now that most late model printer will not let the ARC chip reset until it reaches 20%. Once the chip is set to full, the printer will charge the print head with ink by running an auto head clean. This head clean agressively pumps out ink from all the cartridges, not just the cartridge that has just been removed and reinstalled.
Add to the fustration of having to deal with wasting ink just to reset a chip, another chip could run low a couple of prints after one chip has just been reset. Another chip reset means more ink will be wasted from this auto head clean. How do you reduce the auto head clean? How do you prevent ink wasted from having to remove air that is introduced to the print head from exchanging a cartridge?
If a decoder is used, all the chips are set to full at the same time, the auto head cleaning will be done only once to set all the chips to full. In addition, the cartridges will not have to be removed from the printer which makes the use of a CIS more advantageous.
Don't want to deal with a low ink chip reset while a print is only half way done?
Don't want to waste a print because a chip reset stop the print job when the print stops right before it is finished? Less paper waste, less ink waste from auto head clean more time to print and be productive.
