FAQ on installing the CIS
Chip reset
The only time the chip will reset is when the cartridge LED is on and by removing and reinstalling the cartridge the chip reset is triggered after the printer run a self test and a read on the cartridge ink level.
The chip resetter from Efillink will allow resetting the chips at any time, even if the chip ink level is not at empty.
If a chip reset is required when you are in the middle of a photo print, the photo paper could be ruined. Resetting the chip by reinstalling the cartridge when the LED is on means the printer will do the auto head clean each time a cartridge is reset. The head clean will pump out ink from all the cartridges each time.
If all the cartridges are reset at the same time, the auto head clean is minimized and less ink wasted. This is an advantage with our CIS and refillable cartridges. You cannot do this with Epson cartridges because you cannot refill the Epson cartridges.
External ink tank
The Ink System Pro can hold up to 110 ml ink, but it is recommended to fill the tank to no more than 3/4. The plugs on the back should be used to fill the tank. Do not remove the caps on top of each ink bottles as shown in the photo below. The connector is so small and it can easily be broken.
Refill from the back of the tank:
Connecting the ink lines to the tank. Match the numbers on the connector to the numbers marked on the back of the tank.
Be sure the o-rings are in place as shown. Tips that are not being used are cut off.
Install screws with your fingers to avoid crossing threads. Alternate the tightening of the screws so even pressure is applied. Do not use excessive force to tighten the screws. Tighten the screws in several steps by turning one screw only a couple of turns each time. Place the tank against the wall when pressing the connector against the tank.
Priming the CIS
Keep the cartridges together using rubber bands. If the cartridges have removeable plugs, prime each cartridge after the plug is removed. Remove a bit more ink to ensure no air bubbles remain in the cartridges.
On/Off Switch - "-" is on "o" is off
The on off switch on the back of the tank is used to turn on the electronic low ink alert sensors. At off position, the air supply to the tank is cut off. This is an added safety feature to prevent in flow when the printer is not in use. When the switch is turned on, the green LED will flash indicating the system is working. The red LED indicates a low ink condition. If the ink bottles are filled, the red LED will be turned off. Use high capacity rechargeable batteries to power the tank. A 5 volt, 100 mA AC/DC convertor can also be used to provide power to the tank.
Best practice
Turn on the CIS before turning on the printer. If the printer stays on all the time, turn off the CIS tank when you are not printing. Turn on the CIS only before printing.
