R1800 Waste Ink

R1800 Waste Ink

The photo below is the waste ink pad under the Epson R1800 and R2400.
The R2880 and the R1900 waste ink pad should look similar.
Each time a cartridge is replaced the printer will initiate a head clean.  A pump inside the printer pumps out ink from all the cartridges each time a head clean is performed.  The waste ink pad soaks up all the waste ink and the waste ink drys up over time.  Installing an external ink bottle could be used to capture the waste ink and dispose of it properly.  This will also prevent excess waste ink leaking out of the printer.
